It’s love across the ocean: a Texas Gal & Scottish Lad! Woot!

Welcome! “Howdy” and “YeeeeeeHAW!”

It is my pleasure to welcome a fine group of folks visiting Texas all the way from Scotland! They have come to Fort Worth to take part in a Wedding Reception for Joshua and Lauren and to meet their new Texas relatives.

Full disclosure…I should mention that we really don’t use words like “Howdy” and “Yee-Haw” except on special occasions like this one!

Thank you so much for having me as part of your festivities. I hope you enjoy the class today and the tiny taste of Texas dancing.

Line Dances being taught during the class:

Time permitting we may also learn this one:

We’ll also learn a couple moves for the “Texas Two Step”

Here’s a video, which is a very nice introduction to the “Texas Two Step.” The male instructor in the video is a friend of mine, Brian Barakauskas, “Brian B.” for short.

The Texas Two Step is often confused with another dance called simply the “Two-Step“:

The Two Step is the dance which is danced more frequently in the rest of the US and World-wide. While sharing similar names, the two dances are very different! The Two-Step is the one that you’ll find used in the major competition circuits like UCWDC (United Country Western Dance Council) and the ACDA (American Country Dance Association).

Today’s class will focus on the Texas Two Step which is a regional “social dance” done mostly in Texas and the surrounding states.

For the locals in today’s class, mention you were there and get 15% off my “New Student Sampler”

The Sampler is a two-lesson introductory package designed for those who wish to try out some of the dances you might have seen on “Dancing With the Stars” or on social media reels!
